Alejandro José Gómez Hernández (Guatemala City, Guatemala) is a computer science engineer who graduated Summa Cum Laude from Universidad del Valle de Guatemala (UVG). He has spent the past four years working on ALMA at FUNDEGUA, a health tech initiative originally launched during the COVID-19 pandemic as a medical assistant tool that has since grown into a broader digital health ecosystem serving communities across Guatemala. He has also served as Head of the Technology Unit at the Secretaría Ejecutiva del Servicio Cívico, supporting a government program that enables 18 to 24 year olds to contribute to community-oriented projects through a paid civic volunteering pathway (Q15 per hour) in coordination with public institutions.
His work and studies have been recognized with innovation and academic excellence awards, including a UVG Jack Awards Innovation prize and multiple Honors for Academic Merit. He is especially interested in building reliable, human-centered technology for social impact, spanning public health, digital government, and data-driven services that prioritize the public good.
