United States

Ana is a passionate advocate for human rights, global justice, and civic empowerment, with a vision that bridges law, policy, and technology. Her journey—from teaching in her local church to researching reproductive rights for migrants in India—reflects a lifelong commitment to uplifting marginalized voices and tackling the root causes of underdevelopment. Currently pursuing her undergraduate studies, Ana is shaping a path toward a career in international law and public service, with aspirations of joining the United Nations, serving Guatemala, and ultimately becoming a congressional representative to champion equitable policies for underserved communities.

Ana’s academic interests span human rights law, international relations, and the political dynamics of development, while her recent exposure to data science and AI has deepened her drive to explore how computational tools can solve real-world issues, such as misinformation and media literacy. Inspired by educational models like Finland’s, she’s particularly focused on developing practical strategies for combating fake news and promoting critical thinking among youth.

Her global perspective was further shaped by her study abroad experience in Madrid, where she worked in a community garden in Lavapiés and formed deep cultural connections that helped her confront feelings of isolation and post-colonial guilt. Whether through writing for her university’s human rights column or engaging in grassroots service, Ana brings a rare blend of intellectual rigor, cultural empathy, and political ambition. She envisions a future where law, technology, and community action intersect to build more inclusive and informed societies.
