Azeem Khan is an undergraduate student in the Socrates Program at Yokohama National University, where he studies social resilience and sustainability through an interdisciplinary and dialogue-based approach. Originally from India and currently based in Japan, Azeem is deeply interested in intercultural understanding, education, youth mental health, and how systems can better adapt to people’s lived realities. His experiences range from teaching English to Ukrainian students through ENGin, facilitating intercultural exchange programs with AFS, and contributing to international conferences such as the Harvard Sustainability Impact Summit (HPAIR), Oxford Mun India and JMAM Model ASEAN Conference (Asean Foundation) in Tokyo. One of his most formative experiences was working on a rural development project in tribal regions of Odisha, India, where he explored the gap between policy design and real community needs. That experience significantly shaped how he approaches social problems today. Outside academics and leadership programs, Azeem enjoys meditation, philosophy, psychology, cooking, swimming, traveling, fitness, and exploring different cultures and perspectives. He speaks English, Hindi, and Japanese, and hopes to contribute to building more empathetic, inclusive, and human-centered systems in the future.
