Eman Teshome is studying Computer Science and Sociology at Washington University in St. Louis, interested in overlapping these two fields to use technology to address real-world issues. Born and raised in Northern Virginia, Eman has always been passionate about service and community engagement. In her community, she volunteers with youth to provide STEM education. At university, she is an active member of several clubs. With Green Action, she researches the university’s relationship with the fossil fuel industry and advocates for divestment. Through TRUTH, she facilitates meaningful dialogues on race, identity, and privilege, fostering a more inclusive campus environment. Eman also serves as a mentor for her university’s Kessler’s Scholars program, a scholarship dedicated to first-generation, low-income students who aim to intersect their STEM degrees with social justice. Eman aspires to make a significant impact in the field of education technology, aiming to enhance the learning resources available to students. Her commitment to improving educational opportunities, combined with her technical expertise and sociological insights, positions her to drive positive change in this dynamic field.
