Evan Dierberg is an incoming sophomore at Northwestern University (transferring from NYU) studying philosophy and economics with interests in emerging technologies, AI alignment, and public policy. A native of St. Louis, Missouri, Evan brings a multidisplinary lens to the intersection of emerging technology, AI alignment, and public policy by seeking fluency in both the private and public sectors. Currently working at a venture capital firm, Evan has spent the last year as Operations Lead and Post-Mentorship Analyst at NYU's Strategic Venture Society, researching incubation ideas with a seed-stage VC and curating a weekly technology newsletter. As a Research Assistant at WashU's Social System Design Lab, he explored how local policy outcomes diverge from intent in complex urban systems. He has also coordinated events at NYU's Chinese Student Society and studied business fundamentals through Stern's Private Equity Group mentorship program. Looking ahead, Evan hopes to deepen his study of how entrepreneurs can design technology responsibly and what policy interventions can fill the gap where ventures fall short. Beyond academics, he is passionate about philosophy of mind, classical music, and pickup basketball, and holds longer-term aspirations in technology governance and entrepreneurship.
