Manas is a passionate advocate for merging economic policymaking with social entrepreneurship, with a particular focus on India’s education-technology nexus. His academic background in economics, bolstered by his role as a Research Editor for the Ramjas Economic Review, has given him a deep understanding of labor markets and digitalization, especially in South Asia. Through his research and analysis, he has recognized the systemic inequities that require both rigorous policy and grassroots innovation.
While reviewing studies on EdTech’s potential in rural India, Manas identified that top-down solutions often fail to address the realities of on-the-ground challenges. This insight led him to found Artista, a platform that connects 150+ artists with opportunities, demonstrating how technology can democratize access and inform scalable policy frameworks. His work with Artista also allowed him to integrate his entrepreneurial spirit with his academic focus, learning firsthand how technology and social good can intersect.
In addition to his entrepreneurial work, Manas has volunteered with MIC India, teaching slum children, which exposed him to the stark disparities in education. His podcast, The Talkily Show, where he interviewed innovators on vocational training, reinforced his belief in the importance of policy shaped by lived experience.
Post-EFI Oxford, Manas envisions crafting policies that promote public-private partnerships in EdTech, ensuring that rural students receive digital literacy education without losing their cultural identity. At the same time, he aims to scale initiatives like Artista to formalize creative careers and align profit with purpose, drawing on his consulting experience at Ramjas. For Manas, economics is not just about equations—it’s the art of transforming empathy into equitable systems that empower those who are often left behind.
