Seohee Hong is a recent graduate of New York University Abu Dhabi with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. She currently works as an energy and sustainability consultant in Abu Dhabi, engaging with both the public and private sectors to facilitate the region's transition to low-carbon energy. Seohee is driven by a passion to contribute to intellectual research that translates into tangible policies and meaningful social impact. Her journey began with previous internships at the Environmental Law Institute, a U.S.-based think tank focusing on environmental law and policy, and at Fiker Institute, an interdisciplinary think tank based in Dubai. Through these experiences, she channelled her passion for climate justice into a two-year independent research project. This research delved into the inadequacies of international legal protections and policies for climate refugees as well as the historical inequalities that drive the disproportionate impact of climate change on the most vulnerable communities today. On a more personal note, Seohee was born in South Korea but raised in Doha, Qatar. She considers herself a ‘Gulf Third-Culture Kid’ as well as a cultural nomad!
