Shamikta Suresh Raj

Shamikta Suresh Raj is a first-year Software Engineering student at the University of California, Irvine with a minor in Bioinformatics. She is passionate about applying technology to improve human health and make healthcare even more accessible to many across the world. Her interests range from software engineering, artificial intelligence, bioinformatics, and robotics, with a particular drive to build technologies that can directly improve people's lives. She is especially interested in how intelligent software systems, data-driven tools, and robotic technologies can help to address challenges in biotechnology. Recently, Shamikta and her team won a hackathon at Caltech, where they developed a healthcare-focused solution. As a result, she is preparing to attend the ARDD conference at Harvard, where she hopes to learn from researchers and innovators working in biotechnology. Through Equitech Futures Institute, Shamikta is excited to collaborate with like-minded individuals who are passionate about utilizing AI and data science to create real societal impact. Her ultimate goal would be to build technologies that bring computer science and biology to improve healthcare access and make the lives of many easier through technological solutions.
