Zana English is former science teacher turned data analyst. After graduating from the University of Arkansas in 2019 with a degree in political science, she joined Teach for America as a science teacher, where she spent two years teaching science in rural America. It was during this time that she rediscovered her passion for data and civic engagement. This led to her transitioning into the field of data analysis and she began her work at 100 Devs where she learned coding by working on projects for clients involved in serving the people in their communities. Zana currently works as a Data Associate at Vot-ER, a nonprofit organization that is at the intersection of public health and civic engagement. At Vot-ER, Zana uses her skills in data analysis to help empower individuals to be more proactive with their own health and civic participation. Her experience as a former science teacher has provided her with a unique perspective on the importance of making inclusive data-driven decisions in all areas of technology. She is dedicated to using data to drive positive social change and hopes to use her skills to create healthier outcomes for marginalized communities.
