Rise and Equitech Futures Launch Innovation Fund Challenge to Support Next-Generation Innovators
Feb 23, 2026
5 min read
Equitech Futures Foundation, a leading innovation lab and global talent hub, today announced the launch of the Rise Innovation Fund Challenge in collaboration with Rise, a program that supports promising young people and provides them with opportunities to work together to serve others. The program will provide Rise Fellows and Finalists with comprehensive support to develop technology-driven solutions for some of society's most pressing challenges.
Running from February through July 2026, the Challenge offers a unique combination of financial support, entrepreneurial training, and technical mentorship designed specifically for innovators at the startup idea stage. Up to fiteen eligible finalist teams with charitable projects will receive $500 each for prototyping and experimentation, while the top six teams advancing to the final round will compete for substantial awards: three winners receiving $10,000 each, and three runners-up receiving $5,000 each, all in non-dilutive funding.
“This program responds to a critical need in a world where AI models are becoming more powerful by the day: talented young people with powerful ideas who need structured support to use powerful AI tools to build real-world solutions," said Dr. Abhilash Mishra, Founder of Equitech Futures. "We're not just providing funding; we're building a comprehensive ecosystem of mentorship, technical training, and community that empowers participants to succeed.”
The Challenge features two parallel tracks to reflect the diversity of approaches within the Rise community and emphasizes responsible technology development and meaningful community impact. The Social Enterprise track is designed for teams prioritizing mission outcomes through nonprofit or hybrid models that may rely on grants, partnerships, or government contracts. The Commercial track supports teams building scalable software or AI-enabled tools with earned-revenue potential. In order to be eligible to receive monetary funds for the project, the project must be charitable and thus be either open sourced or be offered to the general public for free or substantially below cost.
All fifteen finalist teams will participate in a rigorous program featuring six workshops covering essential entrepreneurial skills, from honing problem statements and conducting user research to building prototypes and developing sustainable business models. Participants will receive hands-on mentorship from Equitech Futures faculty and technical support from a network of experienced technologists.
"What makes this Challenge distinctive is its emphasis on creative support alongside financial support," said Mishra. "Every participant will leave with validated ideas, tested prototypes, and the entrepreneurial toolkit they need to continue growing their ventures."
Beyond the competition, all fifteen finalists will receive ongoing benefits including membership in the Equitech-Rise Network, continued mentorship, and support for accessing future funding pathways.
The Challenge is open to Rise Fellows and Finalists from any cohort year, with applications accepted from both individuals and teams. The program is specifically designed to support innovators at the idea stage, with or without existing prototypes.
The Rise Innovation Fund Challenge builds on more than four years of collaboration between Rise and Equitech Futures.
